April 10-16 is National Environmental Education Week


eWaste Recycling Event

Saturday, April 16th at Tekserve,

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Recycle your old computers, printers, monitors, cell phones, radios, VCRs, DVD players and more. Recyclers get to enter a raffle and special offers at our store on the day of the event:

Eco-Fashion Show & Textiles Collection

GrowNYC will be conducting recycling education while eco-friendly clothing is showcased on the runway at this event sponsored by LIM College. Bring unwanted clothing, shoes, bags, hats, belts and other textiles to donate for reuse or recycling and stop by the after party to enjoy refreshments and take our interactive recycling quiz!

Meet beneath the Morrison Ave. #6 train station

Join the Bronx River Alliance and Stephen Paul DeVillo for a Ramble down the Bronx River Greenway‘s southern connection in Soundview Park. Learn about its ecology and history as it relates to the river and the estuary. We will try to flush some Soundview pheasant as well keep an eye peeled for returning osprey, cormorants and herons and other birds of the Bronx River estuary.

Children’s Book and Clothing Swap
Sunday, April 10, 2pm-4pm
Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave at St. Marks

Show your kids the fun and rewards of reducing, reusing and recycling at this specially-themed GrowNYC Stop ‘N’ Swap. Share books, clothing and shoes that your child has outgrown and take home gently used items that you can use. Adults must be accompanied by children or sign in and show photo ID upon entry for the safety of young visitors. FREE!


4th Annual South Bronx Earth Fest
Saturday, April 16, 12pm-4pm
St. Mary’s Park (147th & St. Ann’s Ave)
Rain Location: across the street at Betances Community Center, 547 E 146 St.

Join us for food, prizes, eco-centric entertainment and information on recycling and other environmental issues. Enjoy special appearances by Global Man, Plant Hero and José the Bronx River Beaver. Music and dance competitions with a “green” theme will continue throughout the day. AND you can recycle unwanted electronics (TVs, computers, radios, cell phones, printers, etc.) and textiles (clothing, linens, paired shoes, belts, towels, etc.) and receive tokens for free giveaways!
