Beazer’s Garden provides fun, educational, ecology-based workshops, giving students the tools to understand their role and relationship to the environment. Our EnviroScience and STEAMGarden workshops are aligned to city and state educational standards.

Garden Education

Students build skills in the science, form and function of nature

Whether indoors or outdoors, in containers, or in raised beds, gardens provide opportunities to engage the whole body and mind. We explore with all senses and learn about the science and magic of plants!
In these workshops students learn about:
  • Urban Agriculture
  • Ecology 101 – People, Plants & Animals
  • Gardening 101 – Botany/Horticulture skills
  • Insect & Plant ID
  • Organic/Edible/Ornamental/Native Plants
  • Container, terrarium, raised bed, rooftop and window farm planting

Wellness

Students build skills in the science, form and function of nature

Social Emotional Learning and Wellness is the holistic care for the body, mind, and spirit. Spending time on wellness shifts our mindsets and allows the body to function better. Participants develop self-awareness, self-control, self-expression, and social-cooperative skills
In these workshops students learn about:

  • Managing our energy to keep our bodies healthy

Green Infrastructure & Sustainability

Learn what happens when plants and architecture come together

Green Infrastructure like green roofs, green streets, rain gardens and bioswales lower city air temperatures, reduce the heat island effect, insulate and protect roofs, control stormwater runoff, create habitat for animals and insects, AND beautify the city!
In these workshops students learn about:
  • Interdependence of our built and natural environments
  • Understanding urban logistics and infrastructure
  • Understanding Resources: Recycling & Waste Management
  • Citizen science investigations & challenges
  • Exposure to green careers and future goals

Civics & Stewardship

Together, we can turn education into action and create lasting change

Our workshops instill a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship in the next generation and empower participants to be a viable part of the solution. Offering supervised, mentor-rich, real-life learning experiences.

Eco Cadets Afterschool Program

We partner with schools to provide quality afterschool care for students in grades K-5th. Through exploration and discovery, we aim to instill a sense of environmental stewardship and inspire future leaders who will make a positive impact on our planet.
